What are the Court Departments?
There are many departments that make up the courthouse.
Each department plays an important role in making the court system work.
You may personally deal with some of these departments as you move through the court system (such as the Clerk's Office where you might need to file paperwork; or the Accounting Department where you would go to work out a payment schedule for paying a court fine; or even the Public Defender's office).
You may, however, have little or no contact with some of the other departments. The contribution of each department, however, is crucial to the smooth running of the court.
This section is designed to give you a better understanding of what each department does, how their roles fit into the larger picture, and how what they do relates to typical court proceedings.
